About the Designer
Larry Tracewell is the Founder of Caretta Workspace and Designer of all of the beautiful and functional desks, tables, led lamps and other unique Caretta products.
A desk that has power strips and precise places for wires and cords built right into the desk. No more tangles, no more unsightly cables hanging down from your desktop, no more tripping over cords every time you go to sit down, no more power strip power outages.
At Caretta, we strive to design and manufacture the highest quality, most functional and attractive desks, tables, bookshelves, and other furniture available for office and home.
If there’s a place that should offer you respite from the hustle and bustle of daily life, then that’s definitely your home. But when it’s not precisely the eye candy you’d wish for, it’s time to shake things up a bit.
In addition to the many desk, tables, hutches, bookshelves, and other fine wood products that we have made here at Caretta Workspace in 2016, we also recognized the importance of giving back. We were honored to support some causes that are near and dear to our hearts including our ongoing commitment to the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium and The Works: Ohio Center for History, Art & Technology.
When Americans hear about the troubles facing the economy, they want to take an active role in the solutions. With so many issues facing the economy that active role seems out of reach to many regularly Americans. However, there is something everyone
We are very proud being to be the first company to manufacture and sell desks with officially license logos of some of the finest universities in America.
All of the materials found inside of Caretta’s manufacturing plant are American made.Caretta believes in innovation, and their high quality wood desks and furniture with precision, fabricated, heavy-duty metal and high quality manufacturing standards is what sets them apart from the competition.
We are now offering all of our solid cherry wood products in either a natural finish with Natural Cherry Stain or stained dark with the Estate Cherry Stain.
We now offer a line of desks with embedded graphics in the desktop. We have started with a line of officially licensed university logos.
Compact in size, but large in style and functionality, the Caretta Loft Series desks were developed with small offices in mind. This desk features solid Black Walnut and laser cut steel construction. It also has an integrated cable tray and surge suppressing power strip. The Loft Series of products are available in Black Walnut, Natural Cherry or Ash. All are over an inch thick solid hardwood.
In the factory today, we took delivery of more of our raw materials. In this case it is 3,000 board feet of the most beautiful solid cherry and ash hardwood that you will ever see. That's about 10,000 lbs of Ohio grown, FSC Certified wood!
With the new Loft Series, we’ve taken all of the best features of a full-sized desk and created a desk designed for tight spaces. With cable management, solid hardwood desks in Ash, Natural Cherry or Black Walnut, integrated power strip, lots of functional accessories, the Loft Desks are the perfect desk for lofts, apartments and condos.
In the factory today, a Caretta Workspace craftsman is sanding a solid cherry wood Loft Desk top. This desk top is made of over 1" thick, solid Cherry Hardwood. You can also see the steel threaded inserts already installed for easily attaching the desk legs, cable tray, locking drawer, or optional keyboard tray.
In wood finishing today is a tunnel of desk legs. There are the legs for the Artistic Series of Desks. Not only are they attractive, but functional as they reduce any knee obstructions when moving around on your desk. This is especially true of the L Shaped desks when you move from the desk to the return.

If you see a product that you like, but it doesn't quite fit the bill, ask us about modifications. Take this example. A customer needed a standing desk, but our standard 45" X 32" Standing Desk 1 was a bit too large. We modified the design to create this 34" X 24" Compact Standing Desk! The customer also needed a keyboard tray and monitor arm that was strong enough to hold his all-in-one computer.
Caretta Desks were designed with cable management in mind, and that is especially true when wiring an iMac computer to your desk. Here are some tips and ideas how to wire up your iMac or iMac Pro so it cleans up the wires and cables at your workspace.
At Caretta Workspace, one of the most important pieces of machinery we use is our SCM Routech CNC Router. It's a computer controlled router that cuts along the X, Y, and Z axes. With a 15 horsepower spindle, it can easily tackle our 2.25" thick desk frames, and it has a 12 position automatic tool changer that can quickly switch from one cutter to the next. This allows it to easily cut a variety of profiles, like the bull-nose edge on our desktops, and transition into drilling holes for dowel pins or the inset for a desk inlay.Eliminating the need for cumbersome clamps, the machine has two 12 horsepower vacuum pumps that create a suction to hold the pieces so firmly in place that they are impossible to move by hand. Although the pumps only produce about 10 psi of vacuum pressure, we design fixtures that maximize the surface area of the part being held. For example, a part that has 25 square inches of surface area to hold down has 250 pounds of force pushing it against the table. This allows us to make large cuts in the wood while the piece is held securely in place. The router is indispensable to our factory because it cuts our wood pieces much faster than we could cut them with traditional woodworking tools and it makes parts with such precision that each part fits perfectly together.
If you need some place at your desk to keep your papers within reach, yet get them out of the way, if you are always looking for a handy place to plug-in your laptop or powered speaker, if it would be nice to have a dedicated place to locate a phone charger or small docking station with cable access to your computer, then the Power Organizer Tower is the right accessory for you! With either 3 or 6 shelves, you have plenty of room for all of your important papers and documents. You can also place items on the shelves that need to plug into your computer, because there is an easy access port to the main desk cable tray.If you need to plug in anything at your desk, There are three power plugs right on the front of the tower.
This is a set of Artistic Book Shelf sides in the finish room. Each piece of wood that we make goes through an extensive 10-step finish process that can take a week or longer to complete. The shape of these pieces are a good example of the Functional Art aspect of our products. You can find more information on the Artistic Book Shelf in the Companion Products and Accessories Tab, under Office accessories.
Happy Halloween from Caretta Workspace!
